Mary Lynn Clark and Chris Mayer Mahaffey are sisters who thought it would be a great idea to find a practical way to enable people to get the quality products and services they need provided by the same Christian brothers and sisters they sit next to in church each week.
The initial concept of a church members only business directory occurred to Mary Lynn a number of years ago when she was in need of a home repair service. She called her church to ask if such a directory existed so that she could use it to find a service provider. She was told that her church did not have a business-oriented directory, but that it was a great idea and a number of people had requested them in the past.
Then Chris (who attends the same church as Mary Lynn) found herself in need of transmission repair. Alas, there was still no directory (although, thankfully, Chris was referred by word of mouth to a fellow church member’s transmission shop).
A few years later, the final concept of the MyChurchBiz online business directory came to Mary Lynn while she was sitting in Sunday service, quietly asking God how she could use her extensive information technology background to help others. The answer of an online church members only business directory came to her almost immediately.
Finally, a way to help church members, church business owners, and the actual church itself! It’s so simple: the church member has a needed product or service provided by a Christian brother or sister, the service provider profits from the church member’s dollars, and the church receives a 10% tithe from the business owner. What a perfect way to keep the dollars within the church family.
